Saltcoats isn’t the only Ayrshire town that’s making waves in the property market. Nearby Girvan, located in South Ayrshire, also features prominently on the list of cost-effective coastal towns, where the average home is valued at around £194,003. These two towns are part of a wider trend across Scotland, which has seen a total of seven locations ranking in the top 20 for affordable seaside properties, highlighting the region’s overall attractiveness for buyers seeking a peaceful life by the sea.

Newmilns in East Ayrshire, for example, offers properties below £100,000, ranking it fifth in the overall list of affordable places in the UK. Additionally, Stevenston and Irvine, both in North Ayrshire and close to the coast, featured in the top 20 for the least expensive places to buy property in the UK, though they did not make the seaside-specific list.
