Flex It! Office Landlords Betting Big on Co-working Spaces

Get ready for a major shift in the office market – co-working spaces are about to take over!

That’s the word from a new study by infinitSpace, a leading name in flexible workspaces. They’ve surveyed a bunch of UK landlords and found that they’re planning a big change in how they use their buildings.

The Rise of Flexible Workspaces

The study, which looked at 250 landlords, found that they expect a huge increase in the amount of space dedicated to flexible or co-working spaces. On average, they predict that over 54% of their office space will be used for this by 2030. That’s a massive jump from the current 36%.

And it’s not just a bit of tweaking – some landlords are going all-in! One in ten expect nearly all their portfolio (91-100%) to be flexible workspace by 2030. Currently, only 3% of landlords have that much flexible space.

Time for a Makeover – Buildings Need to Adapt

To keep up with this rising demand, landlords are planning a major overhaul of their buildings. Over half (52%) believe that their offices need to be redesigned or revamped to make way for flexible workspaces.

And it’s not just a hunch – nearly two-thirds (59%) of landlords see this conversion as a key part of their strategy to stay ahead of the game.

What’s Next for Landlords?

Wybo Wijnbergen, the boss at infinitSpace, says it’s time for landlords to get smart about this shift.

“Demand for flexible workspaces is booming,” he said. “Landlords are going to have to adapt their buildings to keep up. But they need to do it right, or they’ll get left behind.”

He points out that businesses are now more picky than ever about their workspace. To succeed, landlords need to make sure their flexible spaces are top-notch and meet the needs of modern workers.
