From Checkout to Check-ins – Yorkshire Lass is Property Investor of the Year

At just 28, Emma Fielding has made the leap from supermarket accountant to property mogul, earning her the title of 2023’s Young Property Investor of the Year. Emma’s humble beginnings in a Morrisons in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, seem a world away from her current status as the brain behind a booming property-flipping business.

Building Success From the Ground Up

Emma’s path to success started modestly when she decided to flip her first property while still crunching numbers at Morrisons. With a hands-on approach, Emma, alongside her family and a few skilled tradespeople, refurbished her initial investment. This venture proved so profitable that she earned more in nine months than she did in a year at her day job. This success led her to sell her first property and quickly move on to the next, building her capital to £100k—enough to leave her job and dive into property investment full-time by January 2021.

The Award-Winning Project

Emma’s most recent and proudest achievement involved the transformation of a bungalow into a breathtaking four-bedroom, three-bathroom home. Purchased in August 2022 for £264,500 on Barnsley’s prestigious ‘Millionaire’s Row’, the project, known as Project Inn, expanded the property by over 55 square meters. After meticulous management and eight months of renovations, the property sold for a staggering £495,000 in August 2023, netting Emma a personal profit of over £93,000.

Overcoming Challenges

The road to property success has not been without its obstacles. Emma openly shares that her journey involved “long days, taking risks, and at times, sleepless nights.” Despite the challenges, she remains steadfast, believing firmly that the hardships are worth enduring for the satisfaction and rewards that come from property investment.

What the Future Holds

Looking ahead, Emma is not resting on her laurels. Her next venture involves building a portfolio of buy-to-let properties, promising further growth in her already impressive career. Emma’s story is a testament to the power of ambition and hard work in the competitive world of property investment.

Emma’s Advice to Aspiring Investors

Emma encourages those with an interest in property development to “start with little capital, grow your network, take calculated risks, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.” Winning the prestigious award not only marks a milestone in her career but also stands as a significant personal achievement, symbolising the culmination of her hard work and dedication.
