People exchanging keys on buying a house

Summer Holiday Nightmare – 370,000 Homeowners Stuck In Conveyancing Hell!

Forget sun-soaked beaches and chilled cocktails, thousands of Brits are facing a summer stuck in conveyancing limbo – that’s right, 22 weeks of waiting for their home sale to go through!

It’s the part of buying or selling a house that nobody likes: conveyancing. That’s all the legal stuff that needs to happen before you can finally get the keys. But new research has shown that this process is taking an average of 154 days, which means you could be tied up for the whole summer!

Trapped in the System

Think about it: 154 days! That’s enough time to learn a new language, travel the world, or even get a new career. But for many homeowners, it means they’re stuck in a state of limbo, terrified to go on holiday or even leave their phone unattended in case they miss a crucial call.

The Summer of Stuck

And this year, a whopping 370,000 movers are facing this exact nightmare. That’s because there are currently hundreds of thousands of homes on the market that are “Sold Subject To Contract,” meaning the deal is in place but not yet final.

What Could You Be Doing With All That Time?

Imagine all the things you could be doing with 154 days! You could fly to Sydney 168 times, cruise around the world twice, or even walk the entire length of Britain!

Instead, you’re stuck waiting for paperwork to be processed, dealing with solicitors, and constantly checking your emails for updates.

A Call for Change

Ruth Beeton, Co-Founder of Home Sale Pack, says this situation is simply unacceptable. “It’s ridiculous that in this day and age, conveyancing can take so long,” she says. “There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be done in a matter of hours, not months.”

Get Ahead of the Game

Beeton advises that homeowners choose an estate agent who uses “upfront information packs” to speed up the process. This way, you could have your contracts signed and the sale completed in just 24 hours, leaving you free to enjoy your summer stress-free.

So, if you’re planning to buy or sell a home this summer, make sure you’re aware of the potential delays. Don’t get caught in conveyancing limbo – take action to avoid a summer of disappointment!
